WoTLK Gold has always been defined by one single question: Horde or Alliance? This division of factions has shaped the game ever since the beginning in the beginning, with Horde players and Alliance players not able to join with each other for raids, dungeons or other game-related content.
However, this may not be the case all the time. In a thread on Twitter discussing WoW's forthcoming 9.1.5 patch Game director Ion Hazzikostas discussed the importance of the way that the narrative is incorporated into game play, while stating that "story factors alone" aren't enough to determine "frustrating game mechanics." Patch 9.1.5 will allow players to modify their Covenants without cost which Blizzard was previously unwilling to permit because of story reasons.
As of the present Shadowlands story , as of patch 9.1 The various Covenants that comprise the Shadowlands have mostly converged to unite and fight with the Jailer. Hazzikostas states that this is an explanation for the need for more flexibility for players to swap freely between the various Covenants.
However, when it comes to the division in between Horde and Alliance the solution isn't so simple buy WoTLK Classic Gold. He calls the division between factions as a "major problem" and one that the WoW team recognizes it has to tackle. |
