LONDON Cheap Adidas Ultra Boost Triple Black , Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- The British service sector's strong growth in July revealed in figures Tuesday exceeded the expectations of economists, and more importantly those of the central bank the Bank of England (BOE) for the second half of the year.
The services sector Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for July rose to 59.1 from 57.7 in June, beating consensus expectations of 58 and marking an eight-month high (above 50 represents growth).
The strength of the reading not only beat economists' expectations but also the broader expectation of the BOE for a modest slowing in the rate of growth in the second half of 2014 after two quarters of 0.8 percent quarter-on-quarter growth.
The services sector represents just over 75 percent of the economy, and a strong reading indicates continued gross domestic product (GDP) growth at the level of the first half of 2014 Cheap Adidas Ultra Boost Black , perhaps higher.
For BOE policymakers, this will strengthen the case for an earlier start to the "return to normal" path of bank rate rises plotted by bank governor Mark Carney.
Carney has said the "return to normal" will be gradual, and attention at the moment is on when the first rise in over five years from the record low of 0.5 percent will take place.
Economists and markets are split between a November rise and a rise in Spring 2015.
These service sector PMI figures strengthen the case for the former although there are mixed messages in the underlying data.
The BOE’s rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meets Wednesday for a Thursday announcement on rates.
The rate will certainly not rise this month, nor will the committee extend the quantitative easing program Cheap Adidas Ultra Boost Triple White , but attention will be on whether the MPC is split over its decision, according to analysts.
The MPC has been unanimous in keeping the 0.5 percent rate in recent months, but the strength of the economic recovery -- which was labelled as "entrenched" Tuesday by the economic thinktank National Institute for Economic and Social Research (NIESR) -- is likely to divide opinion over future policy.

LAGOS, July 25 (Xinhua) -- An outbreak of cholera has been reported in Nigeria's northwest Kano State Cheap Ultra Boost Triple Black , spreading to 11 local councils in the area, a local official said on Friday.
Bello Abubakar of the state ministry of health, who confirmed the outbreak, advised the people of the state to take preventive measure to check the spread of the deadly disease.

CANBERRA, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Australia's best swimmer, James Magnussen, is at loggerheads with Swimming Australia over his decision to use an untested coach to guide him through to the Rio Olympic Games.
Swimming Australia Cheap Ultra Boost White , the sport's peak body, issued a statement on Wednesday denouncing Magnussen's new training program, saying they said they would continue to fund his training but wanted a say in how the money is spent.
The 100m freestyle world champion ended his four-year partnership with Brant Best in September and has since hired young coaches Mitch and Lach Falvey as part of a new training program at Ravenswood swimming club in Sydney.
The move has not been well received by Swimming Australia's high-performance department - specifically performance director Michael Scott and national head coach Jacco Verhaeren - who are concerned about the Falveys' lack of experience at the elite level.
"Swimming Australia has announced today that it does not endorse James Magnussen's move to his new training program at Ravenswood School in Sydney, but will allocate the necessary funds to assist the swimmer's requirements for professional services Cheap Ultra Boost ," the statement read.
"We do not support the training environment James has chosen going forward and there are a range of factors that have led us to that decision and we are not about to go into them.
"But in saying that we have nothing against the young coaches Mitch and Lach Falvey - at the end of the day we respect James' right to make his own decision although we haven't got to agree with it.
"However we will still provide financial support to James. This support will need to be targeted at specific gaps. |
