ACCRA Jordan 1 High Wheat , Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Ghana on Friday called for the inclusion of young people in national and global efforts to prevent and resolve conflicts.
Erika Goldson, UNFPA Acting Country Representative, said young people had the potential to act as greater forces for positive social change and to build the foundation for a just and peaceful world.
She was speaking at an official commemorative event to celebrate the International Youth Day (IYD) in Ghana's capital, Accra.
It is a day dedicated to celebrating young people's contribution to development.
Goldson said the UNFPA remained committed to supporting efforts of governments and civil society to develop the youth who could help the continent move closer to its shared vision for a world free of conflict and violence.
She congratulated the Ghanaian government on its efforts and commitments towards ensuring that work in all sectors of society were responsive to needs of young people to enable them to contribute to nation building and a peaceful society.
"If a young person is healthy, has enough reproductive health information to avoid unplanned pregnancy Jordan 1 Wheat Pre Order , can access health services when sick and can make assertive decisions to maintain his or her dignity and human rights, such a young person will be in the best position to contribute to national development and promote peaceful society," she said.
Ghana now has its largest adolescent population ever, about a third of the total population, at over 8 million in 2014 and a working age population (15-64 year-olds) that is much larger than the dependent population.
Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo said the government was determined to put the youth to proper use for the nation to develop faster.
The 2017 IYD celebration is under the theme "Youth Building Peace."

MANILA Jordan 1 Wheat For Sale , Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine total trade contracted by 1.2 percent in June after posting 10 months of positive growth, the government said on Thursday.
Despite the contraction, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said total merchandise trade grew by 11.2 percent for the first half of 2017 from the previous year, with exports growing 13.6 percent and imports growing 9.6 percent.
"We expect the Philippine trade to recover, as the global economic recovery is seen to be on firmer footing in the second half of the year Jordan 1s Wheat ," Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia said in a statement, stressing the need to tap new markets for Philippine trade to bounce back from its slight decline in June 2017.
NEDA said a modest 4.8 percent growth in Philippines exports with ASEAN countries and a 3.9 percent growth in the European Union helped cushion the impact of the decline in traditional markets such as the United States (-8.7 percent) and Japan (-9 percent).
For Philippine imports, NEDA recorded a 4.5 percent growth in ASEAN and 0.5 percent growth in EU.

HO CHI MINH CITY, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's International Kite Festival 2015 kicked off in the southern beach city of Vung Tau on Wednesday, attracting hundreds of local and foreign kite artisans.
According to organizers, during the annual week-long festival themed "Flying with Vietnam,"kite artisans and connoisseurs from Germany Jordan 1 Wheat , France, Italy, New Zealand, Australia and host Vietnam will showcase their kites, including traditional six-sided Japanese fighter kites called Rokkaku Air Jordan 1 Retro Womens For Sale , Vietnamese kites with bamboo flutes, huge kites with shapes of human figures and sport kites.
